The trial itself was fairly easy so slack marks were going to be punished with no real chance of making up ground on the field as it would have been relatively easy to clean the trial with the right levels of concentration.
As it happened, concentration was what I was lacking. After two single dabs on the same easy section on laps 1 and 2 I felt that the chance of a win had gone. A clean lap on lap 3 gave me a little more hope only for the last lap to bring a disaster with two 3's due to lapses of concentration and dropping off line on loose rocks leaving me looking like a millipede with legs everywhere to get back on line and out of the section.
As expected the trial was won by Steve Thomas on clean and I ended up winnig a tie for 4th with Jill Driffield on the oldest rider rule.
