About Me

I have come into 2012 with a strong desire to be more healthy and reduce my weight to something more acceptable for a man of my age and height. On the 1st of Jan 2012 at the age of 45 and height of 6ft 2in, I weighed in at 18st 2lbs (that's 256 lbs or 116kg). I have a pretty large frame and have always been able to carry a bit of excess baggage but I think its time to do something about it for my health and energy levels more than anything else. The experts suggest that for a man of my height and age I should be about 13.5 st but I have set myself a target of 15 st (210lbs or 95kg) - thats a planned loss of around 3 st (46lbs or 20kg) This BLOG is a record of my attempt to achieve this goal and I have made it public to help keep me motivated and on track. If you have any comments, thoughts or ideas and suggestions please feel free to leave me a message..

Before and After No6 - BSA .... and not finished yet

The BSA is still a work in progress but these pictures show the almost finished project purchased as the donor bike, the first stage built into the original BSA frame, the next stage in the Faber frame and you'll just have to watch this space for the finished product in a month or so when it returns from Steve Gagg's place

Before and After No5 - Beta

Well there's not much you can do to a new bike in comparison to a classic or twin shock, but the Beta was a bit loud in the red and white original colour and the suspension needed modification to handle my weight. you can see the transformation here from standard to a little bit special...

Before and After No4 - Fantic

I decided that a twinshock might be a good idea and the Fantic was always one of the best in standard trim, plus they are still sensible money when compared to TLR 250's or Majesty's. This was a bit rough when we bought it but ran quite well and really needed a complete cosmetic makeover (My Dad's speciality!. As you can see, it came out really well...

Before and After No3 - Ariel

The Ariel was bought as a complete bike with a number of spares including a new frame so it really needed a complete rebuild into the new frame and a lot of tidying up.

Before and After No2 - Sprite

This is a 3 stage development of my original Sprite that I originally owned about 12 years ago. The 2nd picture is the first evolution using the original frame modified and the 3rd picture is the final development phase that involved a new frame made from T45.

Before and After No1 - Triumph Cub

As there is no news on the BSA at the moment and the bike is still at Steve Gagg's place waiting for the new bits to be made, I have had a number of people mentioning that they have missed the updates so I thought I would take a look back at the bikes that we have built or renovated over the last few years. Most of them are documented in this blog but here are a few before and after pictures to see just what transformation they went through....

First of all here is the Cub. The before picture is actually the very first build where we merely put together the bits that had been bought along with a bit of tidying up. The after picture was the final state of the bike after more than 12 months of development
